In Conclusion, Don’t Worry About It by Lauren Graham | A Review

In Conclusion, Don’t Worry About it is an expanded version of the commencement speech Lauren Graham delivered at her alma mater, Langley High School. The book outlines some of the lessons she’s learned about success throughout her time as an actress.  It’s a tiny book that features a few anecdotes and some cute drawings, and it’s perfect for your coffee table!

unnamed-1

I gravitated towards this book, not only because I’m a fan of both Parenthood and Gilmore Girls, but also because I’m in a sort of transitional stage of my life. I graduated from college recently and am currently looking into grad school to pursue a career change. With that kind of change comes a great deal of fear and uncertainty, as Graham briefly highlights in her book/speech.

The book has a simple message, and it’s nothing groundbreaking, and perhaps a bit cliche. Yet, cliches are a thing for a reason: they often ring true. And the truths Graham conveys here – to appreciate the small moments, and to seek joy at every stage of your life, even when it feels like you haven’t accomplished much at all – are comforting. And they’re all wrapped up in an itty bitty, bite-sized book that you can read in under 30 minutes! While it did leave me wanting just a bit more, it was enough to give me a little boost of inspiration.

Lauren Graham’s bubbly and personable voice comes through in her speech, as she shares some of her wisdom and complements it with a healthy dose of lighthearted humor. If you’re also in a weird, transitional phase of your life, whether you’ve recently graduated or are making a career change, you might appreciate this book too.
